A Secret that is not so secret anymore

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.

Things that I learned today (May 27th)

Today is a special day because it is the day of Pentecost. Not only that, today is Sunday! Ps. Fredy Liwang ministered to all the Portland City Blessing Church congregations this morning. This morning I learned about four types of giving, such as:

  1. Tithe - The 10% that belongs to God. If we received something like a paycheck, an allowance, etc. It is good for us to give the 10% back to God.
  2. First Fruit - It is about giving our first paycheck, allowance, etc to God. This time, we give God 100% of it.
  3. Alms - Giving to other people who need it such as: poor people, homeless, people who are less fortunate than us.
  4. Seed - Planting seed doesn’t need to be in the form of money but we can plant seed in other people’s life. For example, by sharing the word of God to your neighbors or friends, you have indirectly plant a seed into their lives.

After church, I went to my friend’s house and we decided to stop by at Blockbusters as we wanted to find something to watch. We ended up renting “Courageous.” It is a very good movie and I learned few things from the movie.

Things that I learned from the movie are:

  • We need to find a partner who is truly in God, which means a real Man or Woman of God. It is not easy to find a Man or a Woman of God, but it is possible.
  • Do not be afraid to do the right thing because people can determine whether to trust you or not from that.
  • Try to spend time with your family even though you are tired, exhausted, devastated, etc. Spend your time wisely.
  • Be courageous

After watching the movie, my friend and I went to play bowling with some members of the church for two hours. I didn’t know that my bowling skill is below average. But at least I had fun.

Then my friends and I went to my house and the guys, yup the guys, made dinner for us. They made meatballs and bacon fried rice with bacon omelette. This what happens when male college students are the one who cooked for dinner. Everything is about bacon and I love it.

Here’s the picture of them cooking while the girls were relaxing.

Thank You!

“I’ll Remember”

Mmmm, mmmm
Say good-bye to not knowing when
The truth in my whole life began
Say good-bye to not knowing how to cry
You taught me that

And I’ll remember the strength that you gave me
Now that I’m standing on my own
I’ll remember the way that you saved me
I’ll remember

Inside I was a child
That could not mend a broken wing
Outside I looked for a way
To teach my heart to sing

And I’ll remember the love that you gave me
Now that I’m standing on my own
I’ll remember the way that you changed me
I’ll remember

I learned
to let go
of the illusion that we can possess
I learned
to let go
I travel in stillness
And I’ll remember
happiness
I’ll remember (I’ll remember)
Mmmmm… (I’ll remember)
Mmmmm…

And I’ll remember the love that you gave me
Now that I’m standing on my own
I’ll remember the way that you changed me
I’ll remember

No I’ve never been afraid to cry
AND I finally have a reason why
I’ll remember (I’ll remember)
No I’ve never been afraid to cry
And I finally have a reason why
I’ll remember (I’ll remember)
No I’ve never been afraid to cry
And I finally have a reason why
I’ll remember (I’ll remember)

A Visit to Smith Rock

Today my friends, my cousin and I went to Smith Rock in Central Oregon. It took us around 3 hours drive to get there. The view is pretty nice but the weather was not that supportive. It was windy and pretty cold.

We took couple of pictures but most of them are on my friends and my cousin’s camera. So, I’ll just show you what I got on my phone camera. I’ll post most of the pictures because some of them are blurry.

Verse of the Day

People may be right in their own eyes, but the LORD examines their heart. - Proverbs 21:2 - NLT

Good morning! Yup, it’s still early but I wake up already. Just read the verse of the day in my Bible apps and I found this verse. I totally agree with what it says on this verse as most of the times, people feel good for themselves. When they achieved something big, sometimes they forgot that God is the one who helps them. When they did something good, they feel that they are good people.

However, our God - Jesus Christ, doesn’t look from which one is better, yet He sees from our heart. It is better if we did something average but we have a pure heart rather than if we did something great but we feel that it is because of our strength.

Basically, God sees our heart. He knows who has a pure heart and who doesn’t.

Indeed, it is something that is hard to do. For me, respect is important. We need to respect others if we want others to respect us.

The most important lesson that students want to learn is how to dream.
